AOSSM, AANA Draw Up Five-Year Specialty Day Partnership

The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) and Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) have forged a five-year Specialty Day partnership to be held at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Annual Meeting.  

Orchestrated by AOSSM Immediate Past President Dean C. Taylor, M.D., and AANA President Alan Curtis, M.D., the two organizations are merging their expertise to present a unified agenda for the Specialty Day programs from 2026-2030.  

“Our joint efforts will ensure that the Specialty Day programs are packed with cutting-edge topics and delivered by a stellar lineup of specialists,” Taylor said. “This collaboration promises to enhance the educational experience and professional development of both organizations’ members.”

The strategic collaboration is likely to benefit the orthopedic surgeons specializing in sports medicine and performing arthroscopic and minimally invasive orthopedic procedures. The two organizations will combined their respective strengths to create top-tier education content from world-renowned experts and leaders in the field.  

“This partnership represents a pivotal moment for the orthopedic community,” Curtis stated. “By combining our resources and expertise, we are posed to provide an unparalleled educational opportunity.”  

AOSSM originally grew out of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Committee on Sports Medicine. Organized in 1964, the Society aims to be the premier global, sports medicine organization for orthopedic surgeons and other professionals who provide comprehensive health services for the care of athletes and active people of all ages and abilities. Rosemont, Ill.-based AOSSM cultivates evidence-based knowledge, provides extensive educational programming, and promotes emerging research that advances the science and practice of sports medicine.
